Day 6: 01/21/22
Scripture:
Matthew 5:7
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Devotion:
Did you know that the Bible calls you blessed when you forgive? It says that God desires mercy, not sacrifice, because the ultimate sacrifice has already been given; it is already done. Jesus sacrificed Himself so that He could forgive and show you the mercy that you could never earn on your own. In return, all He asks is for us to take the same mercy that He freely gave to us and to show it to others (to His children, whom He loves). When you show mercy, you are blessed because you too will be shown the same mercy that you give.
Prayer:
God, I pray to forgive as You have forgiven me. When people hurt me or sin against me, help me to see them as You see me. Help me to remember that there is nothing that I did, or could ever do, to earn the forgiveness and love that I receive from You. Help me to forgive and love them as You do. Help me to look at them with compassion and empathy and to offer them grace and mercy.
Song:
