Angel Light LLC - I sell premium candles!

Why did you choose the entrepreneur lifestyle?

I LOVE BEING AN ENTREPRENEUR. I don’t think I could ever go back to a 9-5. The freedom and empowerment is right up my ally. (BY FAR more work than a 9-5, it’s just a different kind of work.)

What economic challenges have you faced in the past year with coronavirus?

My supply chain being either completely shut off or significantly delayed. I wrote this piece for an Instagram post - feel free to use however you’d like! :)

“Did you know that I’ve been selling door to door lately? It’s a grind unlike any other. I get laughed at, doors slammed in my face, wildly rejected, and mocked (those are the worst). BUT... I’ve also gotten mad respect for my grit, intrigue and delight in my candle + lip balm, have met some of the most INCREDIBLE people, and every once and while I’ll get a sale. Lately it’s been my main method for building Angel Light.

End of February I had a business bill that would wipe my bank account. In other words my bill equaled everything in my account. Starting mid-December I was unable to create wealth because covid halted my supply chain; what didn’t stop was my bills. Fast forward to February 23, I had everything I needed to finally start again.

That week was literally make it or break it.

I began selling door to door, & honestly—nada. Someone gave me a donation because I cried on his doorstep after asking how he could pray for me (I tried REALLY hard not to, too). There I was, 25 houses in with one donation and no sales.

I left, and I BAWLED.

.

It was on that Jesus-drive, COMPLETELY at the end of myself, passion nearly snuffed out, doing everything I could to hold on, that a milestone was marked. Through desperate tears I asked the Father—“am I nuts? Is this completely nuts!? GOD, help!!!”

Then, SOMEHOW, I got back in the game. Somehow I was able to emotionally get back to that place of grit.

I purposed—even if I have to knock on 100 doors to get one sale, I’m gonna do it. & I meant it.

What happened next was a #miracle.

I proceeded to sell 20 candles on two hours. 20 candles!!! Two hours!!! The next day selling about 10 more!

I was on my way to paying the bill. Wasn’t there yet, but my belief was renewed, people were LOVING my candles (& loving me; such great connections!), & it was freaking working. FREAKING WORKING. 🥺

Selling door to door certainly isn’t sexy, and I don’t know how long I’ll do it, but what it represents transcends the act—it represents the fight to build something bigger than myself; it represents my belief. I’m still figuring it out, one step at a time, but as long as God’s in… so am I.”

How did it feel when you Made your first sale?

Gosh now you’ve got me thinking… who was my first official sale!? Most likely it was my mom. She LOVES candles and is my biggest fan. I’ve felt tremendous support by all my family, really. It’s been neat.

Creating a business is hard, what would you say was the most challenging part?

Great question. I’d say for me personally the most challenging part is fighting to remain in the place of rest and co-laboring with Christ. It’s a bit embarrassing to admit, but sometimes all the tasks can sweep me away into the busy lane. I’ve got to FIGHT to remain in perfect unity with the Father, connection with Peace, Himself, and then work FROM rest. It’s not easy. But if I can do that… building my business is not only more enjoyable, it’s more EFFECTIVE!

If someone were to want to begin a business venture of their own, what advice would you give them?

Oh my gosh where to begin!!? I suppose I’d say, if they’re a Believer, STAY CONNECTED TO THE VINE. Also, check yourself to ensure you’re in His timing—starting too soon won’t serve you well. I fully believe I was able to sprint from the start of my business because I served FAITHFULLY someone else’s vision for years before building my own.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Yes, PLAN. I just started… without any thought. Lol. I learned about half way through if you don’t plan first, it’s just tougher. It’s doable but crafting a strategic plan first makes life SO much easier.

What dreams do you have for your business?

I LOVE this question!!! Angel Light is the main financial engine to create wealth for my real baby, which in essence is a clean beauty movement. When the timing is right and everything is set in place, she’ll be released. And when that time comes, I believe what the LORD and I are building will be a BEACON, a bright light, and a global influencer. I want our brand to be a leading, trusted voice—influencing culture towards wholeness and essentially Christlikeness.
