Yay! You’re pregnant! I remember all too well the flood of emotions that come with seeing that
positive pregnancy test. By no means do I know it all, but I can say I have learned a lot from trial
and error going through each of my pregnancies. I am going to share some of the most important
first pregnancy tips I wish I were told first time around!

No matter if it feels like you have been waiting for this moment for your entire life or you feel
like you are scared out of your mind, you are probably wondering “What the heck do I do
now?” I remember that feeling like it was yesterday. The constant googling and wondering what
I should do, what I should eat, what I should read was overwhelming.
I know you are feeling the same way, I am here to help! You can trust that these tips are not just
words on a page but experiences I have had and things that women have expressed to me that
they wish they would have done!
1. Be careful in what advice you choose to listen to:

This is something I could not encourage enough! Don’t let your birth plan be altered off what
‘Sally Sue’ says about her exhilarating water birth, or by ‘Karen’s’ epidural trauma. Do your
own research! Ask your doctor all your questions. Take everything with a grain of salt. You
know your mind and body better than anyone else. Trust that inner voice and make your
decisions based on what suits you best.
2. Find a tribe:

Having a great support system during pregnancy is so important. Pregnancy hormones are no
joke. You will have days you feel completely ‘off’ and days you feel on cloud 9! Hold on
tight to those friends and family you can lean on, vent to, and celebrate with.
3. Do not compare yourself to others:

Every person is different. Our minds and bodies are each designed for a purpose. Your body
was designed to grow and carry your baby. Whether you gain hardly any weight or gain more
than you wished, remember this- you created LIFE. That is a pure miracle in itself!
4. Document/Use a pregnancy app:

Take pictures and videos as often as possible. These days will pass before you know it. I used
the What to Expect App (has a great community). It also has so many informative tips, forums, baby registry ideas, etc.
5. Enjoy pregnancy and love your body:

There will be times during your pregnancy that you just wish it were over. There will be
times that you feel like you hate being pregnant. Take it from me. Love it. Love your
growing body. Feel the tiny flutters turn into massive kicks in the ribs and thank God for it.
There are millions of women out there praying for a baby to sit on their bladder making them
wake up to pee 3 times a night. It can be hard, and I know it can be frustrating. But love it.
Your body is incredible for what it can do during this amazing and fleeting time in your life!
