5 Daily Habits for a Healthy Mindset

This post is about 5 habits I do everyday that have helped me have a healthy mindset.

“Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be.” ― Groucho Marx

The first step to forming healthy habits is realizing YOU have control over your mental health. Although it can be challenging to get the mind under control, with healthy habits, it is not impossible. Once you believe you have control over your mental health, then you will be able to apply healthy habits to your own life.

Practicing Gratitude & Making Others Day

The other day I was frantically searching for my car keys. I was extremely frustrated considering I had errands that needed to be done, and I felt myself getting worked up. After recognizing my attitude I immediately started thanking God for different things in my life. I felt my spirit rise, and I was no longer bothered by my circumstances.

Practicing gratitude is one of the most important things you can do because it can stop you from complaining and having negative thoughts. I suggest doing it every morning by jotting down or verbally speaking out 5 things you are grateful for.

Once you get your mind off everything that is wrong in your life you start to realize the good. I find it to be the quickest way to improve my mental health. When a negative situation arises I am able to quickly get it under control by this simple practice!

Along with that, I encourage you to make at least 3 people smile each day. I find that doing this not only feels amazing inside, but will also open so many blessings in your own life.

Exercise (Get That Body Moving!) & Rest.

Exercise looks different for everyone. I personally enjoy lifting weights, but you may enjoy yoga, cycling, or going on a walk. The point is not what you do, but to just get your body moving.

Exercise improves your mood, increases your energy, and keeps your body feeling great! I know it can be hard to make it to the gym or get out of the door for an evening walk, but I promise that you will never regret this daily habit. I have never heard anyone say, “man I really wish I didn’t work out today!”

I encourage you to get a stack of supplements! I take all of the things - pre workout, eeas, protein, and more! I find that I get better results and more motivation when I use these wellness tools. Here’s a link to all my favorite supplements! -> use code LYSS20 https://meccanutritionstore.com

Along with exercise make sure you are getting enough rest! An adult between the age of 18-60 should get at least 7hrs or more of sleep per night.

Drink Enough Water

The average woman should drink about 2.2 liters of water a day. Water is crucial and can be a solution to many problems in your body including your health, mind, and skin. I don't know about you, but this has always been a huge struggle for me! However, in the recent months I have found some water intake hacks that have changed my life.

The first one is to buy a gallon water bottle. I got mine from Hydromate ), and instead of lugging it around, and basically breaking your arm to take a sip of water, keep it filled up in your fridge and poor it into a cup throughout the day until it’s finished. My favorite cups to keep on hand are the HydroFlask, because they keep my water cold and have the cutest colors.

Another water intake hack is to add lemon! I also enjoy adding Young Living’s vitality line essential oils to my water. My favorites are lime, grapefruit, citrus fresh, and of course lemon! You only need one drop and it adds so much flavor to your cup of H20. Just make sure it’s in a glass cup! Setting Timers

Setting times is one of my favorite life hacks. I think we can all relate to wasting time with pointless distractions. This is where setting that timer comes in! I highly recommend getting a Google Nest Hub in your kitchen, it has been a game changer for setting timers, playing podcasts and music!

I tell it to set a timer for 10 mins and give myself one job to do (laundry, dishes, or play a game with my son). The key is to not have any other distractions while doing the task. This habit has made me way more productive with cleaning and spending time with Lincoln. It feels so good at the end of the day knowing I got everything I needed done, and didn’t allow my phone to create a wedge between me and my tasks.

Reading

The benefits that reading has on you are endless! Reading will give you a wealth of knowledge and make you a more interesting person. There are books for anything your heart desires, and the information you get from reading is unlike any knowledge you’ll come across. My personal favorite books are self growth books and books on building a better relationship with God.

Here are a few of my favorites that I’m currently reading or have read.

Find out what genre of books interests you and find a good book on it. Allow yourself to read a few pages a day. Instead of spending the last 20 mins of your night watching T.V or on your phone, pull out your book and expand your mind!

Try these 5 daily habits and I would love to hear how they have changed your own life. Make sure to come back weekly for a new blog post because we have tons of exciting things in store. Thank you for reading and keep in touch through our WTD Instagram!
