Elle Woods

Blonde Bombshell who goes to great lengths to get herself accepted into Harvard Law School to keep her dream guy, Warner, who broke up with her to find a girl more “serious”.

I’m sure we have all seen this legendary movie, and I am not ruining it for you when I say she ends up actually discovering the powerful woman inside of her and ditches that “bonehead”.

Every time you watch this movie, you finish it believing in yourself a little bit more. Which is exactly why I wanted to get some tips from Miss Elle Woods on how we can be better business woman.

What can we learn from Elle Woods in Legally Blonde you may ask?

“I don’t need backups... I’m going to Harvard!”

Elle so daringly believed in her goal and her mission that when her doubtful counselor asked what would be her plan B, this is how she replied.

Many times, if someone were to ask us this, we may rethink our decisions and say, “Well hey, maybe I should think of a backup plan...”

W R O N G

God places your dreams and passions in your heart for a reason. If you follow that intuition, His voice will guide you to exactly what decisions you should make. The decisions that bring you to your destiny.

Elle knew there was no other option; Harvard was exactly where she was going to go.

Fun fact: This story is based upon the original author’s life, Amanda Brown, and her experiences in Stanford with her ex Warner. Crazy right? Apparently, she even wrote this book in pink paper and that’s how it got picked up!

Sometime the closest people to you won’t see your vision.

When Elle told her parents her desire to go to Harvard, they both doubted her and spoke to her like she didn’t know what she was doing. The people close to you may place their own fears, experiences, and feelings over your choices and try to stop you. It may be from a very good place, a place of love.

BUT, if you know in your heart that you are up to something good and you believe in it whole heartedly, GO. FOR. IT.

Do what it takes.

Elle began from the ground up. Did she know a single thing about the law? Most likely not.

Her complete lack of prep did not stop her.

She spent her time in the books, practicing tests, and doing whatever it took to pass the entrance exam. Though she didn’t pass her practice tests, she ended up passing the real deal.

Think of your goals in life. How far are you from it? Don’t let that gap stop you. Put in the work, the time, the learning, the practice and you will soon be there. But you will never be there if you don’t move a step forward.

“I’ll show you how valuable Elle Woods can be.”

Elle isn’t afraid of a challenge. When she learns she will never be enough for Warner (or so she thinks), she says this famous quote. We are going to face rejection time and time again. Make sure to not shrivel and want to hide under a rock when you face it. Face rejection like Elle and tell it in the face “ Ill show you how valuable I am”.

If Jesus thinks I am to die for, then no one can ever make me feel inferior without my consent! Thank you Eleanor Roosevelt for the quote.

Elle Helps Boost The People Around Her Without Seeking Something In Return

We can get so caught up in our own lives we forget to think of others and their wants and needs.

Making friendships is so important. Most people move up in life and obtain job opportunities because of their friendships. It’s called networking. Not only that, but giving or helping people you don’t even know is seriously so fulfilling. We are literally alive to love our neighbors, to treat people with kindness and love. Lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or in any way you are able.

Elle helps her new friend, Paulette, get her dog back from her horrible ex-boyfriend. It is so empowering to watch these two women help each other. Paulette always listens and motivates Elle when she comes in to get her nails done on bad days.

Warner wanted Elle to be Less Extra, and She Did Not Lessen Herself

How many people have tried to change you? Make you a little less.. you? Seriously, if I had a penny for the many people who have told me not to be so extra, not to dress up, and how exhausting I can be… God seriously made you to be the way you are for a REASON. The world needs YOU. Elle knew exactly that and didn’t make herself more serious for a boy. She did tone down her outfits to try and be more accepted into the Harvard life, but in the end she realizes she shouldn’t be anything but herself and shows up in a pink suit. Surround yourself with the people that accept and encourage all of you whatever that may be.

“You have all the equipment, you just need to read the manual.”

Have you ever felt like you weren’t enough? Didn’t have what it takes? I have surely felt that one too many times in life. Not Elle Woods. I want that confidence. The confidence that reminds you that you seriously have all that it takes! You just have to work for it, put in the time, read the “manual”! With Jesus, anything is possible. Quit these limiting beliefs holding you back from your full potential.

Elle keeps Brooke’s alibi even when everyone around her tried to convince her to be selfish so they could win the case.

Her honesty and her word helped her win the case without ruining Brooke’s career. Her honesty buys not only Brooke’s trust but also Warner’s fiancé. I find that so inspiring! I want to be known for that trait, always being honest and keeping my word.

Elle Woods may be fictional, but her character is based off of a real person. We can ALL learn a few things from her and apply them to our personal lives to be incredible people. We need more Elle Woods in this world!
